MN Fire Code
Effective March 31, 2003 Minnesota has a new fire code. It consists of the 2000 edition of the International Fire Code (IFC) along with the State amendments. You may download these amendments from the State Fire Marshal's web site here.
St. Paul IFC Matrix

The Minnesota State Fire Code (MSFC)
In Minnesota we have the MSFC. Currently that includes the 2000 version of the International Fire Code published by ICC and the amendments adopted through the rules process by Minnesota State Fire Marshal. This code is a minimum requirement, effective throughout the entire State. Local jurisdictions can adopt more stringent codes but cannot be less restrictive than the MSFC. They cannot however be more restrictive than the Minnesota State Building Code which is a State minimum and maximum code even though it's not in effect throughout the entire State.
To assist in producing the best fire code possible for Minnesota we have the Minnesota State Fire Chief's Association Code Committee. The "Code Committee" acts as a advisory group to the State Fire Marshal giving ideas and direction on code issues. The Committee consists of Fire and Building code people from the metro, rural areas and State agencies. To read the meeting minutes click on one of the icons in the left margin. MN Fire Code on the Web
Check out the Minnesota Uniform Fire Code information now available on the State Fire Marshal Division web site! In addition to all of the resources from the MUFC CD, there are dozens of new pages that answer many of the common questions from code officials, designers and the public. The site follows the same format and button arrangement as the CD, so if you have used the fire code CD, it should be familiar.
