Per the Fire Service Day at the Capitol registration page:
Please join the Minnesota Fire Association Coalition (MNFAC) and the Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters (MPFF) for the annual Fire Service Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Due to the nature of COVID-19 and restrictions on large in-person gatherings, we are conducting this year’s Day at the Capitol virtually.
The Fire Service Day at the Capitol event presents an opportunity to speak directly with your state legislators about the issues you face in fire service in Minnesota. Given the virtual nature this year, it is especially convenient to meet with your legislators.
We are planning to conduct the event similarly to past years. We will kick off with a legislative briefing and an opportunity to hear from speakers. Then, we will break for individual and department meetings with legislators.
You are encouraged to wear a red fire service day at the capitol polo shirt if you have one. If not, please wear your department apparel/uniform.
Please register by close of business on Monday, January 11th to ensure we have adequate time to secure meetings for you. If you are unable to do so by that date, please reach out as soon as possible to Angie Huss at AAHuss@locklaw.com.
Agenda for Fire Service Day at the Capitol:
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Legislative overview and speakers
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Appointments with legislators via Zoom
After you register, the team at Lockridge Grindal Nauen will work to schedule appointments on your behalf with your state representative and state senator based on your home address and/or the city where your department is located. As January 19 gets closer, we will provide you with meeting and log-in information.
Note: due to the virtual nature of the event, there is not cost to attend this year.
